Participation Report in CIJK 2023
MD SAMS AFIF NIRJHOR (Tokyo Institute of Technology)
I have participated in the 8th CIJK International Conference on Theoretical and Mathematical Biology, 2023. It was held on the Jeju island of the Republic of Korea from June 27th to July 1st.
I started my journey from Haneda International Airport on June 26th. There was no direct flight to Jeju, so I had to take a transit at Seoul Gimpo Airport. The Island Jeju is absolutely marvelous to look at. The streets, the bazaars, the hotels everything was so beautiful. The foods were very tasty as well. The conference was held in the resort named Sono-Belle which is close to the popular Hamdeok beach, which is really lively and beautiful.
I have presented my research on the evolution of cooperation in the division of labor on a tree graph network. I got several important comments and questions regarding my research. I think the participation helped me to understand my research even more. Other talks that I heard were also very innovative and educational. My trip to Jeju was partially supported by the Japan Society for Mathematical Biology. It helped me a lot because young researchers such as myself have often financial problems while attending international conferences.
There was also a recreational and educational excursion program, where we got to visit a cape in Jeju Island, which was really a great experience for me. We also visited a museum, which is a replica of ancient village life in Jeju, and I really learned a lot from it.
Networking excursion program in the 8th CIJK, Korea. The author is in the back row, 7th from the left.
Finally, I got to meet colleagues from China, Korea, and India at this conference, with many of whom I made contacts. I hope this will help my future collaborative research career.
In conclusion, it was a great once-in-a-lifetime experience. I thank the JSMB for the funding from the core of my heart.
